Your figures stay on your device
Everything you enter in Money Map, including your income, costs, savings, goals, bonus and retirement figures, and the results we calculate from them, is stored only in this browser on this device. It is never sent to us, never stored in our database, and never included in analytics or session recordings.
You can delete it at any time with Start again on your Money Map, or by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Counting visits
To know how many people visit Money Map, we count page views using PostHog in cookieless mode. Nothing is stored on your device, nothing is recorded, and we can't recognise you on a later visit. PostHog receives the page you viewed, the page that referred you and standard technical information such as your browser type, and estimates a daily visitor count from your IP address and browser details without storing them. We do this for everyone, because it's in our legitimate interest to know whether Money Map is being used, and it involves no figures and nothing that identifies you.
Usage analytics, only with your permission
If you choose Ok with me, we use PostHog to understand how people use Money Map, for example which pages they visit, which buttons they press and where they get stuck. This includes session recordings of how you move around the page. If you choose Reject, or don't choose, none of this happens and only the visit count above applies. Money Map works exactly the same either way.
- Recordings hide everything you type, and every number shown on screen is removed before the recording leaves your browser.
- Analytics events describe what you did, such as “opened the milestones”, never the amounts involved.
- PostHog stores a random identifier in a cookie and in browser storage so it can recognise a return visit. We don't ask who you are and don't try to identify you.
- PostHog also receives standard technical information such as your browser type, approximate location from your IP address, and the page that referred you.
You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of any page.
Feedback you send us
If you answer “Did this help you make better sense of your money?” and press Send feedback, we store your answer, any comment you write, the date, the version of Money Map, and, if you accepted analytics, your random analytics identifier. We store it in our database to improve Money Map. Please don't include personal details in your comment.
What we don't do
- We don't ask for your name, email, address or bank details.
- We don't connect to your bank.
- We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.
Storage on your device
- Your Money Map and your cookie choice are kept in this browser's local storage. They are needed for the site to work and never leave your device.
- PostHog cookies and storage are set only if you accept analytics. If you later reject analytics, they are deleted, apart from a note that you said no.
Hosting
Money Map is hosted on Vercel. Like any website host, Vercel processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of personal data we hold about you. Because we don't know who you are, we can only find feedback or analytics linked to your random identifier.
